Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower adults with educational opportunities to acquire and improve literacy skills necessary to be self-sufficient and to participate effectively as productive workers, family members, and citizens. We also prioritize the goal of assisting students in gaining skills to obtain meaningful employment.

 

THREE ROUTES TO GRADUATION AND EARNING YOUR DIPLOMA!

* MICHIGAN High School Diploma (Merit)

Students must be 20 years of age or older on September 1st of the current school year. Online courses will be used to complete the credits needed to graduate with a Michigan Merit Diploma. Come in for details and we can check your official transcripts.

* GED Preparation

Commonly called the “G.E.D. Test,” it is accepted by most industries and colleges as an alternative to a high school diploma. It is not a high school diploma but a certificate of equivalency issued by the State Department of Education. Preparation classes are available at Barrows. Testing is given at the Barrows Adult Education Center. Fee for the G.E.D. Test is $150 total for all 4 online tests; or free for students enrolled for classes and counted during count week.

Eligibility:
Participants must be 18 years of age, and their original high school class must have graduated to receive your Michigan GED Certificate. Students under 18 years of age may test with special permission. Testers must show a photo ID.
