Welcome
Park Elementary was originally known as Park Community School in 1956. The present building was constructed to take the place of eight different one-room schools throughout the rural area of Park Community. At one time Park Community was a K through 8th grade building but by the 1960's strictly became an elementary school building. Park PLC was developed in the 90's with the focus being on the primary grades. Remodeling of the original structure took place over the summer of 2005 from floor to ceiling. On September 1, 2005 construction began on a 19,000 sq ft addition. The new annex now houses the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students from Barrows Elementary, Parks' sister school. Nine new classrooms, a lunchroom/music room, a dedicated art room, a state of the art media center, and a new office area were all added. It is an exciting start to a new year and an awesome future as we merge 2 schools together as one.
Park currently provides an educational setting for K-5th grade students. Traditional classrooms and team teaching are offered to our community. Park Elementary staff ensures an opportunity for all students to achieve a maximum level of personal and academic success, while providing a safe and caring environment.
Philosophy
The staff at Park Elementary follows the K-12 curriculum development of the district. The curriculum is delivered in a developmentally appropriate manner to meet the needs of all the children. All core areas of the curriculum are taught with a major focus in the area of reading. A major supplement to our reading program includes an Accelerated Reading program- a program that allows each learner to become an independent reader over a two year period. The ability to read has proven to enhance learning in all other core areas and help to boost self-esteem.
Goals
