THREE RIVERS COMMUNITY SCHOOLS HONORS SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS

FOR ANNUAL RECOGNITION MONTH

January is School Board Recognition Month, a time specifically set aside to recognize our District’s school Board Members for their extraordinary dedication to our community schools. Our Board is composed of ordinary citizens with extraordinary commitment; their decisions contribute directly to the success of our students and help to build the very foundation of our community.

School Boards are charged with making decisions that can sometimes be quite difficult. They contribute countless hours each year as the governing body of our District.  Their commitment to setting high standards, ensuring continued financial stability, supporting a safe learning environment, and prioritizing our strategic goals are the primary reasons TRCS remains a great place to be.

School Board Members represent the views and priorities of their community within the complex system of maintaining a public school district. By doing so, you reinforce the principle of local control over public education—a highly valued aspect of education here in Michigan.

To reach our district goals, the Board focuses on the essential needs of our students and staff by:

  • Creating a Vision: Defining what our citizens want for our district and making student achievement the top priority.

  • Setting Standards: Establishing what students must learn and be able to do.

  • Ensuring Accountability: Assessing goals, tracking progress, and reporting results to the community.

  • Resource Alignment: Strategically aligning human and financial resources to support our mission.

  • Cultivating Culture: Creating a safe, orderly climate where students can learn and teachers can teach.

  • Continuous Improvement: Questioning, revising, and refining issues to stay focused on excellence.

This month, members of our staff and community are encouraged to thank a Board Member and continue to show year-round appreciation for these individuals and celebrate how local elected officials work together to prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders.

Thank you to our current Board Members:

  • Amanda Allen - 2nd Year

  • Julia Awe - 10th Year

  • Linda Baker - 7th Year

  • Ross Daniels - 4th Year

  • Erin Nowak - 12th Year

  • Elizabeth Ogreen - 1st Year

  • Melissa Patch - 2nd Year

No matter what challenges lie ahead for our district in 2026, we know our school Board Members will continue to govern to improve student achievement and provide exceptional education for all our community’s children.

TRCS Administration will be honoring the Board at their January 19, 2026 meeting.
